A/C Unit

Hi
My neighbour has installed two external A/C units on their side wall
They are positioned about a foot away from my boundary wall and flat roof
I am concerned about damage and noise from these units.
I have been advised that they should be positioned at least one metre from boundary wall and flat roof.
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
