Bridge over main river

I am trying to find out what kinds of permission I need to build a bridge across a river that flows through our garden. The span of the bridge is 15 metres. I am confused as I have looked at Environment Agency Permission and also planning permission (including permitted development). But because bridges in gardens are rare there is very little information. Each permission costs and I'd really like some idea of which consents I have to apply for + how they are connected to each other. Can someone advise?

Your best bet will be to speak to your Local Planning Authority to try and obtain some free advice or submit a Pre-application enquiry.

The link is to the Statutory Guidance. Clearly there is a potential flooding problem and fortunately there's guidance to help you do it without causing flooding to your own or upstream or other land.
