I have a detached dormer bungalow with a detached garage to side approx 4m away in line with the front of the bungalow. Can I extend the bungalow sideways to incorporate the garage without planning permission

Single Storey Side Extensions
If you are planning a single storey extension to the side of your property that a) does not exceed four metres in height, and b) does not exceed half the width of the original house, then you may not need planning permission or prior approval. This does not apply to properties that sit within protected land (e.g. AONB’s, national parks, etc).
