help with neighbour having unauthorised log cutting site

Hi - I hope anyone can help me with this please? A guy bought a plot of land (rural/agricultural) in 2016 near us and the last couple of years has started a noisy, commercial log cutting business so chainsaws going off including Sundays. No planning permission has been sought and highly unlikely to be granted as we'd all object and we are in a rural area.

We really can't enjoy peaceful enjoyment of our own properties especially in Spring/Summer due to the noise. I got the Council involved (planning and noise nuisance) who seem to be trying to fob me off and they just keep going back to this guy asking him questions rather than doing anything about it. The guy has lied and said the land was a log cutting site when he bought it (so far I have over ten names of neighbours and former neighbours all willing to give the Council statements stating that the former owner only had chickens, some pigeons and few sheep). Now this guy is saying that he shared the site with the former owner (likely now deceased as he was elderly and ill health when he sold it to this guy) again a lie as he is trying to establish use so he can come under the ten year rule.

The Council do not seem interested in any of the residents statements or how it affects any of us. Something doesn't feel right about the way the planning officer is dealing with this.

The guy at the Council emailed me this today 'He is going to look to see when he started using this site with the former tenant before buying the land. The matter of the use of the land is not directly related to the time of ownership. Apparently, he used part of this land at the same time as the former owner and this will give better clarity for the period of time this land has had this use on it.' This guy never shared the site with the former owner and all the neighbours are willing to make statements regarding this as well.

Can anyone give me any pointers or help on this please? Thank you.

Is it worth speaking to and engaging a local Councillor to see if they can put any added pressure on the unauthorised works?
