Lean to Canopy / Pergola

Just wondering whether planning permission is required for an open sided lean-to canopy / pergola with a polycarbonate roof? The structure would be covering my decking (approx. 7m x 3.5m) in my back garden.

The back of my house has already been extended by 2m, so I guess if a lean-to canopy is classified as a house extension I have a feeling I require planning permission!?

Hi Tom, wondering whether you found the answer. We are looking to build a lean to over our decking but we already have a single story extension. Planning or not? Would welcome advice.
