PP or PD

I wish to extend my property with a single storey rear extension. I will be filling in an L shape created by an earlier single storey rear extension. Dimensions are within PD but I am being told I need PP as the new extension will be attached to the side wall of the existing rear extension. No where can I find this situation on the planning portal or internet. Any guidance from anyone please.

Hi Neil,

Yes, I have encountered this issue before. The area in question is indeed the corner of the L shape which is neither a rear extension or a side extension.

I would suggest submitting a householder (planning) application for the L shape extension, and should this be rejected you can always fall back on your PD rights and submit a subsequent PD application.
