Do i need permission to istall a two post car lift in my garden for private use?

I am looking into getting a 2 post car lift I have a big enough space but it will need to go outside on my large drive as there is not enough space in garage for the posts as there taller than the height of the roof inside, the location where I will be wanting to put the lift is at the side of a 6ft hedge but will stand taller by about 3ft it will be in use privately by myself and only my car's will be on it I was wondering would this be a issue
